Cookies

Most cookie pages are long because most sites use a lot of cookies. This one is short. We use one cookie, and it is the one that keeps you signed in.

Last updated: 23 August 2026 Total cookies used: 1

1. The short version

In short

One cookie, called vb_session. It remembers that you are signed in. That is the entire list.

No advertising cookies. No analytics cookies. No cookies belonging to other companies. Nothing that follows you to other websites. There is no consent banner because there is nothing optional to consent to.

2. What a cookie is

In short

A small note a website leaves in your browser so it can recognise you next time.

A cookie is a tiny piece of text a website asks your browser to keep. When you come back, your browser hands the note back, and the site knows it has met you before.

Cookies are not programs. They cannot look at your files or run anything on your computer. They can, on some websites, be used to follow people from site to site, which is what gave them a bad reputation. We do not do that.

3. The one cookie we use

In short

vb_session keeps you signed in for 30 days. It holds a random string, not your name or your email.

Namevb_session
Who sets itVega Bell (vegabell.com). It is a first-party cookie. No other company is involved.
What it doesRemembers that you signed in, so you are not asked for your password on every screen.
What is insideA long random string. Your email, nickname and password are not in it. We store only a scrambled copy of the string on our side, so we can check it is genuine.
TypeStrictly necessary. Signing in does not work without it.
How long30 days, then it expires and you sign in again. Signing out deletes it immediately.
HttpOnlyOn. Scripts on the page cannot read it, which makes it much harder to steal.
SecureOn. It is only ever sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
SameSite=LaxOn. It is not sent when another website makes a request to us, which blocks a common kind of attack.

If you block this cookie, you can still read pages like this one, but you will not be able to sign in or save a score.

4. Why there is no cookie banner

In short

Consent banners exist for optional cookies. We have none, so a banner would be theatre.

Privacy law in the UK and Europe says you must be asked before a site stores anything that is not strictly necessary. A cookie that is genuinely required for a service you asked for (such as staying signed in) does not need that request.

Our only cookie is that kind. Since we have nothing optional to offer you, a pop-up asking permission would be a fake choice, and we would rather not waste your time or your click. We still tell you it exists, which is this page.

5. Cookies we do not use

In short

No advertising, no analytics, no social buttons, no third-party cookies at all.

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies. There are no ads in Vega Bell.
  • No analytics cookies. No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no session recorders.
  • No social media cookies. No embedded like buttons, feeds or share widgets that phone home.
  • No third-party cookies. No other company can set a cookie through our pages.
  • No fingerprinting for tracking. The device hash we keep is for catching cheating and fake accounts, it is never used to build an advertising profile, and it is not a cookie.

The only outside connection any of these pages makes is to Google Fonts, to load the typefaces. That request fetches font files. It sets no cookie for us and gives Google no account information about you. On the sign-up screen, Cloudflare Turnstile also runs a bot check; it is designed to be privacy-preserving and does not track people across websites.

6. Settings your browser remembers

In short

The game saves a few of your preferences on your own device. They are not cookies and they never travel to us.

Vega Bell uses a browser feature called local storage to remember small comfort settings, such as whether the sound is on or which view you last had open. These entries all start with vb:.

Two things to know about them:

  • They stay on your device. They are never sent to our servers, so we cannot read them.
  • They are not used to identify or track you.

Clearing your browser's site data removes them, and the game simply goes back to its defaults.

7. How to see or delete cookies

In short

Your browser lets you look at and delete every cookie. Deleting ours just signs you out.

The quickest way to remove our cookie is to sign out in the game. That deletes it straight away.

You can also do it yourself. Every browser has a settings area, usually called something like "Privacy and security" → "Cookies and site data", where you can see stored cookies, delete them for one site, or block them altogether. The steps differ by browser and change over time, so look for that section in your own browser's settings or help pages.

If you block cookies for vegabell.com, you will not be able to sign in. Everything else on these information pages will still work.

8. Cookies and children

In short

Children get exactly the same single cookie. Nothing is used to advertise to them or follow them.

Vega Bell is played by children as young as 6. No child playing this game is tracked for advertising, because nobody is. The one cookie we set exists to keep an account signed in, and it does the same thing for a 6-year-old as for an adult.

Parents can read the whole picture on the Parents & COPPA page.

9. Changes to this page

In short

If we ever add a cookie, this page changes first and we tell you in the game.

The "Last updated" date at the top always tells you when this page last changed. If we ever add a cookie beyond vb_session, we will list it here and show a clear notice in the game, and if it is not strictly necessary, we will ask your permission before setting it.
